Co-ordinators

At our meeting on 14th August 09, our pastoral care ministry was told that we needed to elect a new chair-person as the newly elected person is stepping down due to personal health. As such, we were given until our next meeting to decide what other alternatives we have so as to enable this ministry to continue as there were no volunteers who could commit fully to this post.
On 21st August 09, it was decided that as no one person could lead, we will try with a leader and a deputy and other "willing hands", thereby enabling the workload to be distributed amongst ourselves and enabling this ministry to move on.
With effect from 28th August 09 and on behalf of all 24 of us, may God bless our new chair-person MH and guide her to lead us well in our endeavours - AMEN!

The 2ND REUNION

The photo taking session by the poolside went great and the reunion dinner was a tremendous success. Games were played to break the ice and there were songs and dances performed by the Singapore and Malaccan sides which moved the crowd. Yes it was a great success and we look forward to the KL reunion if all goes well!
Thanks to the staff of the STRAITS MERIDIAN HOTEL who also helped to ensure a very memorable and pleasant stay for all.

Malacca Reunion 26th - 28th June 2009

Met the group leaving for Malacca around 0715hrs. Started our journey around 0750hrs and had a smooth clearance along the Singapore causeway and a better one at Johor Baru's new immigration.
The meeting point at JB's first shell station for Ed was reached, but we were told to proceed and meet-up at Pagoh's R&R. So on we went with Glen loosing his way - turning off into Pagoh instead of proceeding to the R&R which is further along the highway! HUH! But to cut a long story short at the Pagoh R&R we finally met-up with Ed's entourage and lo and behold Kevin's too. So you can bet the amount of yakkitty yak that was going around!
Arrived in Malacca around 1100plus and went to do a little shopping and eating at Jusco. Checked in around 1330hrs at the Straits Meridian Hotel.
A small dinner was planned for this evening at the residence of Stan & Adlene (portugese settlement) as an ice-breaker for the reunion tomorrow night at the hotel itself.
The portugese settlement also had a food and funfair to celebrate the feast of St Pedro. Though it's like our pasir malam with a little difference of having some dance performance and songs thrown in. It was a colourful affair.

Until We Meet Again ...

At a time when we should be enjoying the fruits of our labour, my cousin John passed away suddenly on the 10th of March 2009 at the age of 53.  Having had the toes of his right foot amputated (diabetic) one after another and making it thru' all the operations, it was a great loss for us all. We grew up though not quite so close, (meeting during Christmas and Chinese New Year or when occasions call) we had our fair share of good times together. He had a laughter that was contagious and always a smile for everyone he sees! Even when he's deep in thoughts with a frown between his brows, the very minute his eyes fall upon you, the dazzling smile (like in the toothpaste advertisement) never fails to appear.  I remember clearly last Chinese New Year how you enjoyed the sausage rolls I made for the CNY celebration at my mums' place and how you said you used to go out of the way to Katong to buy them. I'm very glad to have been able to make it for you to enjoy! Dear cousin John, in your own special way, you've touched all of us and we're all gonna miss you very much!! 'Til we meet again ... Eternal Rest Grant Unto John O Lord - Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him - May He Rest In Peace AMEN!
