FAMILY ..... that's who we are!

Having taken a respite from blogging, I hope to be able to document happenings in my life as and when available.

Seeing the triumphant look on my dearie's face when he baked his first cake, (kueh bingka) made me want to encourage him to do more! :)  And baked he did - when we had his family over and they almost finished the whole container of cake.

Great when he helps around the home too.  Like for instance, drying up after dinner and at times taking over the washing up too. Makes-up our love bed when the nights' over. How lovely is that???  ;)) Oh..oh not forgetting cleaning the toilets and scrubbing the tiles shiny. Thank you dearie... muak!

More often than not, I take for granted that my family members are not interested in learning to do certain things when they can easily get it done by another.

Guess I've been proven WRONG!  Lets just start from my eldest.

Jie - loves eating almost everything and enjoys being the food tester but most of the time is not home. Hates clutters, but brings back a lot of impulsive buys. Throws anything and everything out, even if it's new if interests for it wanes. Helps to unclutter my home - pssst...love it when she does this :)

Mae - wait, l'll keep for last .....

And Ber..... well ..... knows when to 'butter' her parents!! Each time when reprimanded or in need, will ensure that she does or say something to gain ones' approval or confidence.  Moves with a group of friends who are no hurry to join the workforce. This might have caused her a professional development lapse and if it continues will not be good for her self-esteem.

Back to Mae, a hands-on person. Loves to bake, cook and sew, must say she's more like her mum hehehe! :)
Also a DIY person and a good handy one around the house too!!
Character wise, more like her daddy - stubborn headed, soft at heart (easily swayed), too helpful to the point of hardly saying 'NO' to others even if they themselves do not want to do it.

Putting all our flaws aside, l've been blessed with a wonderful family. We stand together through thick and thin and help each other out when in need.

Oh..yes! we are who WE ARE - FAMILY !!

What ????

How time simply flies - 2013 has ended and 2014 is just beginning. Without a difference the day started nice and bright but for my second child tis another day of work, in the retail sector!

After a night of work and partying and to wake to another work day is sic!! Life moves on.

What will year 2014 be for all of us?  Do we make a list of to-dos that even before the month has run its course, all is forgotten??  Alright, for me l will try only one (uno) TO-DO and that is to keep as fit as possible with my daily regime of walks and stretches ahem... didn't work last year tho'. No harm in trying again this year, right??? lol

I had hoped for a shapelier figure but laziness took over. And then the dreaded regret showed when l couldn't fit into my gown for the NYE's countdown party. So try again l must or face the consequences when the time comes around.

Why is it so difficult to keep fit? Why can't those around me show encouragement? And why am l so weak? Each day is a challenge for me. Jumping out of bed after prayers, l feel the urge that today will be a better day yet as the day moves on - l start to crumble and fall. Why???

Being a SAHM is not helping, for after doing the laundry (must catch the sun which normally turns to rain by noon), l rush to the wet market to do a spot of marketing. Then back home, prepare the food bought and put them aside for later.  By noon, l start to weaken, feel tired and take a short break, only now can l consume my belated breakfast.

Then again back to cleaning the floors, tendering the plants and other menial tasks. Rain check? Still looking good, yea!

Start to prepare dinner between 2-3pm and normally ends around 5pm.  Now to bathe and check the emails for the day and read the readings of the day.  Hubby comes home around 6.30pm.

Dinner has got to be on the table after his shower and then another round of cleaning up the dishes, cutlery, pots and pans and putting them away for the day.

By 8.30pm - l'm feeling very tired. A quick wash-up before joining my other half to query on his day's happenings and before long .... KO!!! How boring this is yea?   Gotta sleep as my eyes cannot remain open any longer. Time: 9pm

When the Young Goes a Smoking &/ Drinking

Society today sees many a young one smoking and drinking just to look 'cool' in the eyes of their peers. Try talking to them about the dangers it will have on their lives and loved ones - and you'll be listed as a kibitzer. Even parents are unable to talk their children out of these habits. These kids will start to yell or lie. Why? Oh why? Parents are trying to make ends meet so their children can have a decent life but every cent they, the children receive is spent not on food but on cigarettes &/ liquor. What is going to happen to these young ones when their parents are unable to 'support' their habits due to unforeseen circumstances? Let us together help to stump out sale of cigarettes &/ liquor to kids and a curfew to those found consuming them. If only ...

A new life

Just received the good news that Becky had given birth over 2 plus hours ago!! Welcome Tara into the human race. A first for proud parents - Glendon and Rebecca, and grand-parents Amelia and Jocelyn.

On this day 78 years ago, my mum who crossed from this universe to the higher heavens was born too. May she now rest in peace.

*-<):o) .... what a day!

Last Monday 14th January 2013, we picked Jia up from the MRT station then proceeded to Hans to meet Deb and friend Aaron. We were there to celebrate her 21st on a quiet note. No loud partying at Honky Tonk Lounge as was our previous plan to hold it there. So, got her what she wanted.
We had planned for a great get together *-<(:-p), for both sides of our family but she didn't want it - so sad though!
Dads was kinda moody which left things a little awkward and got the kids feeling down and on edge. :((  Plus point was, he joined in the birthday singing and ate the cake!! So the end wasn't such  a damper after all until he came home and down 2 cans of beer and retired to bed. What a day!!

Far Far Away ...

Early this morning she's left for a short holiday in Bintan with 7 others. My baby, the youngest of my three is starting to spread her wings and slowly but surely she'll one day fly away.

With a prayer in my heart for her safety where she's going, I feel that I must let go and trust her to stand on her own.  Only time will tell if she's practiced all she'd learn while growing up.

Aah yes! said she'd post pics on watsapp for the family to see while she's away. Just like her!!

Our home will be kinda quiet for the next few days.  This being so as she's always shouting greetings back and forth with her dad whenever she leaves or return home so yeah ...  it's gonna be quite ... quiet.

Just Passing Through

Starting out yesterday morning for my PCSE meeting, everything looked bright and beautiful. During our meeting we were told to prayer for one of our parishioner, whom we've been visiting, who has gone into a coma and is not expected to  hold on much longer. By the end of our meeting a message was forwarded to us that RA had passed-on. A short prayer was said for his soul and "May Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him O Lord - and Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him - May His Soul Rest In Peace, Amen!"
It's news like this that puts a damper on ones' day. He almost always jokes and laughs during our visits even though he feels drowsy with the medications that he was taking. We'll miss you RA.
